New Award:

The John P. McGovern Science and Society Award

Since 1984, a highlight of Sigma Xi's annual meeting has been the John P. McGovern Lecture, which is made by the recipient of the annual John P. McGovern Science and Society Medal. The award carries an honorarium of $5,000. The recipients of this award are selected by the Society's Committee on Awards and, in the past, have represented a broad spectrum of people involved with varied science and society activities.

Robert Boily a member of the McGill Montreal Chapter is the founder of Inforex, a Canadian company that has helped to advance knowledge in such areas as medical imaging, biotechnologies, environment, defense technologies, energy, electronics, aerospace and advanced materials.
